I think I lost this battle. Naples yellow is better as a highlight at the end than a base in the (Original Post) GreenPartyVoter May 2020 OP
It just needs more detail in the fur. lunatica May 2020 #1

Just like the puppy has in the photo. I don’t see anything wrong with it.

that is making my stains run wild and my sediments muddy. I have spent all day applying and lifting color trying to get it there. I think she and I need a break.

I might try putting color on my man in the moon, but will leave white for his little faerie friends. Hey, I've only waited 2 years to be ready to try. Lol

like stuff looks just fine when I go to bed, but the gremlins play with my painting overnight and move everything around on me. Mornings can be quite shocking some days.

major partying on a painting I can’t finish! I’ve been working on it for months!

But if I ever get the damn thing finished it’s going to look like I slapped it together in mere minutes!

Try using yellow ochre and a touch of raw umber, in a thin wash,
Try the results on test paper first to guide you as to the right mix.
As you add more detail, like the previous poster said, it should come
together nicely.
😊

if you vant to show light, you have to have dark.

the tricky part about water colors is blocking out the lights till you are ready.
there is a mask you can use that you rub off w an eraser, so you keep the paper's white.
kinda backwards from acrylic/oils.
give him some more black.

anything on the Naples, my stains ran and flooded other areas and my sediments got gummy and muddy.

Will definitely try pushing my darks further!
