What are your strengths and weaknesses as an artist?

Just curious.

I'd say my strengths are use of color and mixing colors. And my compositions.

My weaknesses are my lack of patience and drawing anything human. My faces and figures look like they were drawn by a 5-year old.

1. The fact that I think I suck, which gives me the artist's equivalent of writer's block so it's really hard for me to get started on a new project.

2. Lack of patience - I tend to give up if it's not going the way I want, which happens a lot, or else I rush and make a mess.

3. Fear of trying a new medium. I'll get different paints, pastels, etc., but if I can't figure out how to use them right away I give up.

4. Lack of imagination. I'd like to try different styles but I don't know how.

3. I'm good at colors and value contrasts.

My weaknesses are ….

Fear of drawing/painting human faces

Too impatient and I always think halfway through a project I messed it up horribly

Not very good on technique

Strengths:

I never lack for ideas for paintings

Composition

Wishes? I wish I could just make the world go away (every day necessary chores) and paint all day long. Not enough time, I guess.

Brush and ink is also good for me. I was an illustrator. It is a pain since you can't erase anything but the simple brush stokes make it worth the effort. The stark contrasts between light and dark attracts me, no matter the medium.

I love figure drawing and portraiture as well. I have a good eye and can visualize a lot so I save time by problem solving as far as composition goes. I learned that I had this skill in art school when my friends were spending a lot of time on projects that I wasn't then I figured put why.

My strength is I have the patience of Job. Detail and really having to dig in on something that takes time doesn’t scare me. Portraits and human figures are a love so they’re the strong suit. I was told I am good at contour line.
Weakness is fear when working with watercolor. And I have to paint wc florals for work! It’s bc the paper is expensive, and it gets a bit precious feeling—and next thing you know I’m freezing up and being too conservative. That’ll never get you that cool “happy accident” wet effect that I love.
