I have pre-election jitters (and insomnia). I've been working the nasty labor Prop 30/32 fight here in CA. What's everyone else up to as we come into next week? Nervous? Calm? How is life going? You have been on my mind, comrades.

(14 posts)I feel ya. Simply put I am new to all of this and it is hitting me hard. Here in New Hampshire it is so challenging at times to talk to people. I have been trying to spend more time just talking about voting and why it is important but a lot of my coworkers are vehemently against our President.
I am a little nervous about this state, not so much about many of the others. There are is a large libertarian group here that might throw a wrench in the works...
I am starting to make calls for President Obama and it is making me feel better.
Stay Strong, Starry. If we keep it up I feel it will be worth it!

(32,342 posts)Working in the election definitely helps. I'll be phone-banking this Sunday for OFA, it feels good to be with people who are involved. I agree, it will be worth it. Thank you for your hard work in the great state of New Hampshire, getting people involved in democracy is exhilarating!

(32,098 posts)does that answer your question?
I'm surrounded by stupid down here. The scariest thing this Halloween was all the houses with Romney signs in front of them ... (for those who don't know I am in Texas)

(32,342 posts)There are a couple of Republicans, but they usually stay pretty quiet so they don't get dogpiled.
I don't know if its any comfort, but there are about ten new chapters of the Young Communist League in Texas, formed all last year. The Reds are on the move in the South. But it it still scary to think of being surrounded by Romney signs.

(3,678 posts)There are a couple of ballot proposals here in Michigan that have my attention.
Feeling a little gloomy about all the nonsense talk related to the debt/deficit and the push for austerity.
Thanks for asking. Take care everyone.

(32,342 posts)That's been quite a fight. How is it looking in the polls?
It's been a gloomy few years. I hope we all have some little good things happen soon. ((Hugs))

(3,678 posts)Two polls from last week disagree; the margin is around 6 points in each case. We'll see. Prop 2 (collective bargaining) was behind in both. But ya never know.
Sending good thoughts westward!

(11,481 posts)I think I'm mentally prepared for anything, including a Romney/Ryan/Republican steal of it. Whoever wins, we're in for an immediate and hard slog against the austerity of either Simpson/Bowles or a more radical Republican plan.

(32,098 posts)We need Obama on social issues, but either way we are going to be hit by austerity under the guises of the "problem" with social security (which is invented because they have simply spent too much money on war-mongering and need to pay back that debt). Either way we know who it hits - and it's NOT the 1% who control most of the wealth.

(32,342 posts)Although I don't think I'm mentally ready for an R/R possible scenario. But you're right, either way we have to be ready for what's coming.

(62,276 posts)Spending a good chunk of tomorrow canvasing (primarily for marijuana) and Tuesday I'll be taking people to the polls who haven't voted early (I get the impression though a crapload of people here have voted by mail though so it won't be like 2010).

(8,244 posts)how's it going. I didn't really do a lot of election work this year like I had in years past. Drove around a couple times putting up signs for the Senate race, and also a House race in a neighboring district. Also put up a few Obama signs. And today I went and collected all my signs, stuck them in my parents' basement. Might be able to reuse some of them in the future. Celebrated election night at local pub.
I heard those props 30 and 32 were victories, so good for you, and California.
