(14,565 posts)Including 2 roommates. I heard all the stories for years. Most of their stories involved tips...the type of person who tipped big or not at all. They said they could tell immediately. For the most part they preferred locals because Las Vegans understood the importance of tipping. Celebrities fares often could be incredibly cheap tippers.
You had to know which stands to prioritize. That was another persistent theme. The idea was to find a stand where the line moved quickly and the rides typically were long enough to rack up a decent fare along with clientele who would tip. Last thing you wanted was to wait forever for a ride around the corner and nothing but, "Thanks buddy."

(23,741 posts)I've never used them, but have friends that do a lot of traveling within US and swear by Uber. Have no idea on compensation or work hour requirements. I think you pretty much make your own hours. Whenever you're available you activate the app.
The vehicle requirements for Uber's basic services (UberX) include:
1. Model year 2000 or newer for most cities. ...
2. A sedan that can seat at least 4 passengers, excluding you (the driver).
3. State-issued license plates.
