OK! I'm DONE! Effing around with these effing racoons in my garbage!!

Sick and tired of cleaning up after them! They dump over my garbage can and I get to put on the gloves and get the shovel and clean up after these monsters!

I bought a rubbermade rolling 50 gal garbage can that I can tie shut with poly twine. I tied 2 hook/hasps on it so the garbage men can get it open, BUT THE RACOONS CAN'T!

You can't see it in the pic, but the top hugs down on top of the rim and I can set a hook in there. It also has moulded handles on the can and lid and I tied the lines around both so I won't lose the top and it will stay closed.

Oh, yeah- Plus I put 8 bricks in the bottom! GOOD LUCK, critters!!!

But won't the bricks fall out when the trash gets dumped? Laffy Kat Oct 2017 #6
No: They do that with the recycling but not the trash. lindysalsagal Oct 2017 #8
Modify the can so the raccoons get trapped inside. They get added to the trash in the garbage NCjack Oct 2017 #9

You should be able to find a small one online. I used one as a diaper pail back in the day. sinkingfeeling Oct 2017 #21

I used it to stop a raccoon from shinnying up the corner of my house. Use cayanne mixed with water and a little soap to keep deer and raccoons away from tomato plants

We have big trucks that pick the cans up with automatic arms and then turns the can upside down.

It had a five-inch wide lid that we kept screwed-on tight. Somehow the coons unscrewed that jug and ate every last morsel of food. I'd give anything to have simply seen how they managed that with their little hands. Wondering if it was a group effort.

"They put rocks on top of the cans. That never works!"

They are persistant buggers.
