I'm assuming you mean one of the mega jackpots?

If so, I'd probably buy a nicer and somewhat larger home than my current one. I'd do serious travel. I would quietly give money to some people who I know need it.

I might look into setting up my own charitable foundation, although giving directly to causes I support would probably make more sense.

But if I only won a few thousand dollars, I'd stash it into savings to use for things like needed home repairs.

what I'll do after I switch to the GOP?

Actually, I've been thinking about starting a superpac, something like "Stop Electing Morons". I'd put up billboards in republican districts with unflattering remarks about their incumbent republican or republican candidate.

"Welcome to Nevada, where it's easier to get shot thanks to us!" (picture of republican politicians).

Here's one to put near the NRA HQ: "Die like an American, get shot!"

And for Texas District 1, (picture of Louis Gohmert) "Do you really need to have the dumbest motherfucker in Congress?"

The possibilities are nearly endless.

We could build a Boxing ring so the Bernie folks could have a go with the Hillary folks and then have a refreshment or 5 and realize we are in this together. As many of us are 'of a certain age" it paints a funny image. I'm thinking canes and oxygen tanks.

Boxing thing aside it would be a blast I think.

Outfit 1-2 mobile surgery vans, hire students & a supervising Vet to go round to local homeless camps to take care of the critters. Spay/neuter/microchip if wanted, shots, food, sweaters for dogs/ cats in this cold area, leash, collar, maybe crates.

Fur friends are taken care of, students get experience in dealing with homeless people who are just like the non homeless who love their critters.

Then debt

Then take stock of what’s left

Best case: I can quit immediately, trade in the car for an electric (any convertibles? there’s something about a convertible...), move where I don’t have nosy neighbors, learn to play guitar, and sit outside the offices of my elected officials exercising the right to petition for redress of grievances. Especially orange grievances

Worst case: the change left after IRS and debt pays for a few mad-dog margaritas, and aspirin the next morning

filing single. Higher filing married or head of household.

So a multi million dollar Powerball win is for the most part taxed at 39.6%

After that however, as long as the remainder never makes money (like for instance, you got it all in $100 bills and put them under your bed), you could go the rest of your life and never pay another penny in income taxes. You would only pay on any money the money makes.

I'd buy a new car, invest some, and give back in the following ways.

1) Buy items from up and coming Etsy shops to be given to charity auctions/raffles. Etsy isn't easy and I want to help the artisan community. As an Etsy seller, the email about a sale can make your day/week.

2) Donate heavily to Emily's list candidates. Especially at the state and local level.

3) Have a scholarship fund for girls interested in going into politics.

4) Donate to cat rescues.

Let's put some hard numbers into this thing. Let's say, after the tax man gets done, I'd have $140 million left over.

I would pull $20 million off the top for things like setting up a fund invested in something safe that spits out $1000 per week, for my personal living expenses, giving $1 million to each of my four siblings, buying a house, and so on and so forth. I have no "long-lost relatives" to fund, so that's not a huge issue. (Come on: how many Mowreaders could there possibly be?)

$100 million divided 50 ways equals one $2 million new business in each of the states. None of the businesses can be retail or food service because I want ones that can pay good wages. And as much as I like the idea of legalized marijuana, until it's been descheduled at the federal level I don't want any pot businesses because of maniacs like Trump and Sessions, who would close every marijuana-related company in America in a New York minute if they could figure out how to do it. My businesses will put their profits in a common business bank account, and when the account hits $3 million we will start another business. If it's run correctly we should be able to plant five to ten new businesses per year.

And just for fun, I'd like to take $20 million to go to a midsize town off the Interstate in a blue state, and open an old-fashioned service plaza that's got gas pumps, service bays, a diner, a hotel, parking for fifty trucks, a truck service shop...I want uniformed pump jockeys, a soda fountain with soda jerks, the best burgers in town, drive-in service, waitresses on roller skates, a record machine in the back with a dance floor in front of it, neon signs, just this whole Fifties vibe.
