Do you ever judge a product or service based on their commercials?

In my life, I do. Not all of the time, but there are some major cases where they do.

It's not just TV commercials, but on-line ones, too, and if I saw enough ads in magazines, I might, though in some cases, like beauty and fashion, the same advertisers dominate, so it's different to an extent.

Sometimes, an advertiser can both fail or succeed, but when there is a certain ad campaign, and I don't like it, I lose some support for that product.

In California, when I lived there, there was an insurance company called Survival. It's commercials were god awful. The guy who appeared in those commercials was perceived as the owner of the company, but he gave me the creeps. I don't know whether he really was the owner, or whether he was just an actor, but he definitely turned me off from the company.

While I'm not a homeowner, the thought of reverse mortgage disturbs me--essentially selling your home to this company that will "allow" the owners to live there until they die--notice it's only for older homeowners, who will die most likely long before the company pays out the full amount to them. And being represented (right now) by Fred Thompson makes it even worse. I used to like Robert Wagner, but he was another reprentative for the company, so he is suspect, too!

On-line, I hate pop-unders and pop-overs. The worst candidates of those are Bid-cactus, Netflix and QBids. I don't use those bid sites, and Netflix is acting sleazy by using those sneaky methods of advertising.

SO. Do certain commercials get your blood pressure rising? Tell us about them!
