Aristus mentioned that he was going to be out tonight, so I decided to step in due to his absence.

(112,399 posts)I'm refreshing myself on some Star Trek DS9 episodes since I decided to sign up for CBS All Access. I don't have any chores to take care of tonight so it should be a relaxing break.

(112,399 posts)It looks like I made it Harvey okay. There was one appointment with my psychiatrist which was in late August that I just made up this past week. The mental health clinic was flooded by the Colorado River about a week after Harvey came onshore. My source said that there was about 3 feet of water inside the building so the clinic is sending me to a sister facility in Bay City which is about 30 miles away.
There are still a large number of homes in town that have home furnishings and other debris sitting outside for pickup. However, the major stores resumed normal business hours. I still think that Hurricane Celia was the worst hurricane in my life. Harvey and Hurricane Allen were approximately equal as for their impact and how much they disrupted my normal routine.

(2,541 posts)Ok.
Elections routinely see about half of registered voters actually vote. What is it going to take to get the other half engaged?
Do you think voting should be mandatory?
How do you think the trump era will end? Will DT last all 4 yrs? Will he be indicted/impeached? Will he resign?
Which Gin is better-Beefeater or Tanqueray?
What does the dryer do with the socks?
Since you have a cat picture (which is pretty cool BTW). Why do cats always go just out of reach when petting them. My cat meows for me to pet him and soon as I do he will go just about an inch or so out of reach...

so I pawsed to freshen my drink.
1) To get the other half of the electorate engaged to vote I recommend providing free pizza, hamburgers and beer at all polling locations.
2) I'm not a proponent of mandatory voting. We already have enough ignorant people voting so why would we want to "dumb down" the electorate?
3) The Trump era will end with Donald being as clueless about how to run the country as it began on Inauguration Day. The learning curve for the Trump administration is a flat line with a slope of zero
4) DT for four years? The DTs never started for me because I'm not an alcoholic. Unfortunately, I believe Trump will last all four years. With a Republican House of Representatives there is no chance of an impeachment and no president has ever been indicted. Trump has too much of an ego to resign.
5) It's been over 20 years since I drank gin, but when I did drink it I chose Tanqueray.
6) I've never lost any socks in the dryer, but I've had many pairs ruined when one of the socks gets snagged on various parts in the dryer.
7) Your cat is a tease. My cats always approach me when I reach out to pet them. However, if you want your cats to remain in petting distance I suggest rubbing some of the oil from opened tuna cans on yourself. Also, you should feel fortunate because there are five cats that I am feeding and all of them are jostling for position to sit in my lap. Last night I had to manage two cats sitting on my lap and a third sitting on the top of my chair behind me. I haz lossed kontroll.

You must have good Karma! If I could say that (truthfully) it would be my epitaph!
Enjoy the rest of your evening and have a great weekend.

(20,254 posts)Ours did the same action. You'd stretcccchhhh to pet them and managed to touch them with a fingertip only, concurrently pulling your shoulder rotor, having to then ingest hydrocodone and immediately make an appt. with your chiropractor! Amirite? 😆
We luv 'em no matter what, tho!

(112,399 posts)I'm in an apartment complex and while the cats occasionally see small dogs there aren't any puppies around.
I believe that the time change occurs the first Sunday after Halloween. They delayed the date for balling back to standard time as a safety precaution for trick-or-treaters. The time change really has no impact upon me other than it has occurred on the same weekend as my college homecoming which means that I get an extra hour of party time that night
I don't know much about Skinny Pop, but I've drank a few Rolling Rocks during my earlier years of debauchery as a single dude.
