The cats had a door into the basement where the hot tub was. But because we wanted to keep the dogs and their constant shedding out (not to mention an extra barrier against the bear who broke into the basement), we never left the human door open. The malamute had a hard time being separated from his pack, even for a 20 minute dip in the hot tub. So he would often have his head pushed through the door with an expression that seemed to be "you forgot me again. bad human"
