A place I've stayed at many time before put me on theirs and the desk clerk said only the manager could say why, I've never damaged the rooms, I complained the chain's HQ, didn't have any problem getting a room at another place nearby although they jacked up the price because it was busy weekend, is it because I used AAA or a group rate too many times, I never damaged the room either

(39,343 posts)I really want to know what brand but I won't ask
pstokely
(10,530 posts)do they share the info locally or through the chain? never wiped my butt on the curtains although I used AAA or group rates lot's of times
NightWatcher
(39,343 posts)So sorry to hear about that trouble. I'd be pissed

(10,109 posts)I hope someone can offer some explanation. You weren't a member of some rock band back in the 70s were you?
Peace

(10,530 posts)desk clerk didn't even seem to know, said only the manager (who wasn't even there) could tell me

(4,670 posts)Do you have a relatively common name? They wouldn't care that you get a discounted rate.

(25,895 posts)out to belong to a lot more people than you'd have thought.
And unless you are literally the only person in the country with your particular first and last name, there is at least one other person out there with your name, so it's not impossible that there's a mistaken identity involved.
Although if you're paying by credit card, your name should be linked to that card, and ought to eliminate possible identity confusion.
And simply booking through third party sites won't get you kicked onto a do not rent list, I'm pretty sure. I do most of my bookings that way.

Tanuki
(14,920 posts)in which I was denied public accommodation for no reason, even more so as a frequent past customer with a spotless record. Being told I would "hear from management within a week" would only have made me feel I was being hustled off the phone and would not begin to address my indignation in the moment. I hope you get something in compensation, like some free nights at the Ramada, when this gets straightened out.

(36,827 posts)A hotel where I frequently stay black balled one of my co-workers. The hotel gives us a great rate because our company does a lot of business with them. My co-worker is one of those guys that complains about everything and doesn't know when to STFU. Eventually one of the employees complained about him and that's all it took. I suppose it's possible one of the employees took a disliking to you for whatever reason and may have embellished the story to the manager.

(34,195 posts)We'd keep a 'do not rent' list at the individual property for suspected hookers, drug dealers, someone who skipped out on a bill, used a bad credit card, etc. who had been there before.
Also a sign saying we have to right to refuse service ...
Ask to speak with the manager.
