I always thought Moosehead actually did taste like burnt rubber. At least it smelled like it. Haven't tried one in 30 years and haven't noticed the same smell from any of the beers I do regularly drink so I don't know if it was just youthful inexperience or that's just how Moosehead smells.

All I know for sure is it took a couple to power through that smell but then everything was fine.

that you got ahold of some Moosehead that had sat around too long. Depending on where it was obtained, the store may have let their inventory go stale.

so it may have gotten skunky on the long trip down lol. 95% of our beer purchases were made at the convenience store/gas station on the highway exit behind 6 Flags (where we worked). I usually opted for Lone Star but my buddy said that tasted like refried beans so he always bought Moosehead.

I was like "WhoTF doesn't like refried beans??"
