Pre-digital Fun - The Good Ole' Days

Note: What struck me about these photos are the people in them (for the most part) are interacting with other people - No batteries required. As for me, during the non- school days it was out of the house at sunrise, return early nightfall and sleep like a baby worn down from playing with my friends.

Get a stick, wad up some well-chewed bubble gum, find an open grate and fish up lost treasure - keys, coins, bits and pieces of this and that. More to be gotten in big city grates as shown.

One of the reasons my parents shooed us outside was because we lived in a very small houses back then.
Rainy days, us kids usually played games in one of our small bedrooms, and watched tv in the evening.
3 kids and 2 adults in a small house during weeks of rain must have driven my Mom mad, I now realize.

I can just imagine how crowded it was in those tenement apts, behind the circle of kids.
