Craziest thing you can find someone do for money (steal live power lines, for example)

Avoiding show business, which is a whole 'nother thread. Just work. BAD work.

I'll start with this family team, who, in looking around for something to steal, thought "no one expects us to steal live powerlines".
Is there an extra-big Darwin award for taking your adult children out with you?

So what else shouldn't you do for a living, no matter how desperate?

who accepted work as a human tester of body armor. Literally, his job was to be shot in the chest while wearing body armor. You see, there are some field-research questions that cannot be answered in simulation like "Does getting shot while wearing this new product hurt less than the old product?" and "If you were engaged in a complex manual task, how disruptive to your ability to perform that task would shock from being shot in the chest be while wearing this product?" or "Is it possible to get up and run 3 miles over rough terrain after being knocked off your feet by being shot while wearing this product? Assume you're being chased."

These are things the US Army wants to know before it orders 1,000,000 body-armor units...and they don't want to risk injuring or killing actual useful and basic-trained soldiers...so manufacturers pay meatheaded college students to get shot. He was never seriously injured but he used to come home looking like he went 3 rounds of body-punches with Mike Tyson. Yeah, he was a repeat crazy.

He also took a gig getting pepper sprayed with then-experimental pepper-ball paintballs.

Dumb fucking kid...he's a VP of investments for Merrill Lynch now.
