I have about two pairs of shoes that fit me. One is a pair of cowboy boots that feel like slippers, and the others are slippers.
I have a 7.5 pair of Doc Martin boots that are 20 eyelet that almost make the cut.
I can't find dress shoes, though, that actually fit my feet to save me.
I need a new pair of traditional work place type shoes, though, and my feet hurt like hell in b width shoes.
I've had heels that I could run in, but only one pair. It was Etienne Agnor. Not sure if I am wealthy enough to find another set of heels like that. I prefer comfort and practicality, but if it looks terrible, I would rather have practicality. Thoughts?

(6,251 posts)My favorite dress shoes are Clarks. They have great arch support, and are reasonably stylish. (Reasonable for an old lady who thinks that stilettos were created by Satan and platform heels make your feet look like cow hooves!)

(39,961 posts)You end up with shoes that are vast in the heel and toes, even if your foot fits in them. I need a pair of running shoes, and they need to fit right.
Do you have a link to the source of your shoes? If so, Staph, I would greatly appreciate it!

(6,251 posts)is Zappo's -- http://www.zappos.com/ -- if you find the shoe you want, but it's not currently available, they can notify you. At my request, they send me emails with all of the new Clarks styles. And their return policy is excellent.

(6,011 posts)in stores that carry them and many styles for different kinds of feet, running surfaces, etc. (google running shoe stores in your area, like Fleet Feet) And they're made in the U.S.A.!
Zappos has a narrow shoe 'department' on the internet-
http://www.zappos.com/narrow-shoes
and Zappos is great.
I bought three pairs of shoes, kept one and returned two- just save the boxes util you've decided (they even include a return label), and drop it off at the UPS store.
I know what you mean about clutching with your toes, then they cramp- if I wear loose shoes or flip flops I have to stretch my feet like a cat before I can relax and go to sleep!

(15,774 posts)it is Brucette's shoes. Be you a transgender/cross dressing performer trying to find the perfect stiletto or smaller size, you can find it there.

(39,961 posts)but I'll check it out . I didn't think of a transgender store. I just wanted some nice heels that fit my feet, but at this juncture after having my stupid foot get a cramp for the 11th time in these, I'll take a look!

(115,704 posts)I have feet like skis. Fortunately, now that I've retired I no longer have to wear dress shoes very often, so I mostly just slop around in flip-flops and Crocs and width doesn't matter so much. But back when I had to dress up regularly it was sometimes a real pain to find shoes that fit. Unfortunately most of the more inexpensive shoe stores carry only B widths. Nordstrom's used to carry narrower shoes but they were expensive.

(39,961 posts)My toes get tremendous cramps and freeze, though, if I wear heels that don't keep my toes and arch from floating around in the shoe, not to mention blisters.

(21,691 posts)You might try Frye's shoes and boots. Order 1/2 down. I order 1/2 size up, and they are ridiculously comfortable, even with my strange, flat arthritic feet. My husband, who has narrow feet with very high arches, finds Frye boots to be extremely comfortable too. Many styles are US-made (the rest in Mexico, not China, if that matters to you).
Aerows
(39,961 posts)They end up bumping up on the shoe if I order half size down. I didn't know until I got spoiled and realize there were shoes made in 8A. Dear Lord. Doesn't cramp your toes.

(32,084 posts)I have short toes, a high arch, and narrow heels. I used to have a hell of a time finding shoes that fit right. For some reason, it's gotten better over the past several years. I have been able to fit in B width shoes more frequently, although not always.
If you buy athletic shoes, look into Ryka brand. Their toe boxes are plenty roomy, without having too much room in the heel end. Do a search to look for the best prices. The last pair I got came from Amazon.com.

(21,691 posts)I just wore mules and flipflops for a long time - I live in California. I still wear flip flops much of the year, but have found Frye boots to be perfect for my weird feet. I now have six pairs! Good fit, extremely comfortable and actually cute. Even my Engineer boots

I have the long foot and long ass toe issue LOL.
I don't like it when my toes are crammed up and get blisters.

(39,961 posts)narrow and long. It's a pain in the behind to find the right footwear that doesn't leave me with toe cramps because my toes are swimming around in the shoe.
GoCubsGo
(32,084 posts)Wide up front, narrow in the back. I wind up with cramped toes due to no room, or swimming heels, because I bought them wide enough to fit the toes. I often have to get those pads that shim the heels into the shoe.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)That shoes are "Standardized" for people whose feet are perfect. Your toes are short, my toes are too long LOL. I use those arch supports most of the time because I have to fill up most of the shoe. I have 2 different sets of arch supports and "fillers" designed for my Doc Martens simply because I couldn't wear them otherwise. That works for big ol' boots, but not for dress shoes.
Don't get me wrong, with 2 sets of arch supports, my docs fit great. I still need heels, and they still need to fit right.

(21,046 posts)Got em at Neiman-Marcus, they are soft and last a long time. You can get em resoled and reheeled. I am an 8AA and used to be an 8AAA. I have to wear something flat with a strap on it to stay on my foot.
I also had good luck with white summer sandals with lots of straps at zappos.com. Brand was Propet.

When I was a kid I had to go to Joske's and get Old Maine Trotters.
Got the bony little feet from my Dad. He was a big guy, 180 pounds, five foot eleven, strong as an ox with 13AAA feet. I asked him what he did when he was a kid and he said "I walked on my hands". Dad was a smartass. he wore After Hours and Ballys in his old age.

Not really a surprise when you think of it. Well, I do have some sandals that fit that are also italian fisherman sandals built somewhat but nothing like birkinstocks. My feet are too different.

(32,084 posts)They often have uncommon sizes. And, the more uncommon the size, the higher the likelihood that you might get a great price on it. Check them often, as they always get new stuff in, based on closeouts, items being discontinued, etc. They have a fair number of brands that carry narrow widths, including Munro American, Birkenstock, and New Balance. They have lots of higher-end stuff, and it's easy to send it back if you decide it doesn't fit right. They're really good about returns.

I think it should be possible to create shoes that fit right, and clothes that fit right, remain economical and still are fashionable.
