The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThis comes up occasionally.. Do you have a lot of names on.."ignore list"?
I have none.............
...I can ignore posts by not reading them if I do not want to..or read them later, if I change my mind.. People can ignore my posts by not reading or not posting to what I have posted.

(153,204 posts)stupid people, idiots, assholes, the same people I ignore in real life
once in a very great while i will see that there are replies that i dont see and i log out to see what is said, but that is rare as hens teeth.
who needs the aggravation?

(115,875 posts)Those are people who consistently annoyed me so much that I was tempted to reply in an intemperate way, which I would prefer not to do.

(6,121 posts)There are a few people whose posts I generally avoid, but I can see them if I want. I don't need to put up any "walls" on a Democratic discussion site.

I seem to be out of town a lot -- more than half the time. After the eclipse, I should be around most of September and early Oct. Maybe we can arrange a local meet up. Or we could just have lunch sometime.

(60,023 posts)as of today, I am pretty much done for the year - aside from a yellowstone trip mid Sept, I will be around lots.
Let's see what we can do!

Please don't kick my ass, Skittles. I'm a nice girl. I have kids that are no longer at home. And a grandbaby. They neeeed me.

(11,110 posts)I had one guy suggest I put him on my ignore list but didn't. I do, however, keep a mental list of people it isn't worth arguing with.

(111,360 posts)and quite a few of them were trolls. I go through the list once a month and get rid of the FFR and PPR people to trim it down to a reasonable size.
People disagree with me all the time, I'm perfectly capable of being a total blockhead. I only ignore the ones who feel compelled to be nasty about it.
Nay
(12,051 posts)just by seeing their names in posts. So, they are ignored.

(12,598 posts)This person would post the same message on three different forums at the same time, and do it with multiple messages at the same time, resulting in my Latest Breaking News page always being half-filled with their posts. After about three months of this I realize I could just block them and since then my LBN page has been nice and clean.

(63,225 posts)Actually, I have two. One who spams DU with reposts from their blog, and another who posts nothing but "Link to Tweet."
I used to have quite a few on the list, but I purged it after DU returned from the hack. Most of the Ignored people seem to have vanished during the hiatus. Hmm...

(26,298 posts)One happened at a time of extreme stress, for me, and I just couldn't deal with the strangeness. The other 2 were, to my way of thinking, pretty fanatically abusive in a light hearted DU Lounge post, of all places. I don't need that kind of crazy in my life.

(12,170 posts)Actually, several. I used to go "Ignore Free," because I was pure of heart, took the high road, and danced like nobody was watching.
But that all changed in early 2017 when a whole phalanx of obsessive primary revisitors started making my blood simmer on a regular basis. So I decided to cave in and start blocking them. (Most of them are also on my jury blacklist.)
What a refreshing change! The difference is a lot like blocking the stupid religious and home shopping channels from my TV service.
I also have quite a few keywords on my Trash Can list, because they signal a discussion that's almost always either a circular firing squad, a bait-and-hide gambit, or some other pointless exercise that I'd prefer to avoid.
And, to complete my true confessions, I've trashed several groups -- one of which is also on my Subscriptions list, I see!
I'm actually a pretty open and agreeable person in real life. But I find online life without DU Road Rage to be much more enjoyable.

(14,565 posts)I'm not scared of counter opinion. Besides, somebody could be a howl in the Lounge even if I disagreed with most of their points in General Discussion.
I guarantee I'm on plenty of ignore lists. I'm an analyst and handicapper, not cheerleader. I think the most hilarious related experience I had on Democratic Underground was more than a decade ago when TruthIsAll repeatedly called me a troll and called for my ouster, simply because I had the audacity to point out some of his mathematical mistakes. He had a vast math background but not related to political polling so he made frequent silly errors when attempting to interpret or apply those polling numbers.
Eventually he smoothed it out. I didn't often agree with him but I didn't think he should have been banned.
It became ironically hilarious only when TruthIsAll became a frantic Trump supporter in the general election last year. Meanwhile I'm still on a lifetime pace of never voting for a Republican one time in any race. I even study the non-partisan races carefully to make sure I'm not unintentionally casting for a Republican or right winger.

(2,230 posts)So basically I am putting them all on ignore.
I haven't read enough here yet to know who I don't like. Anybody wanna give me some hints on who to watch? Who starts off nice and then slithers into nastiness? I hate that the worst.
