to produce the domesticated cat in Egypt. This has finally been confirmed through genetic testing.

They can be partially tamed down but make poor pets as they retain too many wild characteristics.

My own favorite is the manul/Pallas's cat. They're a little smaller than domestic cats but with incredibly thic fur. They can't be tamed at all. If you tried to pet one, it would rip your arm off and beat you to death with it.
