I've tried watching a few ASMR vids and none of them have done anything for me

I'm still trying to figure out what the big deal is.

If I want to get an audio high, I just listen to some music.

Anyone else not feeling ASMR vids?

1. I heard a lot about them, so I gave a few of them a try.

They were so boring I wasn't able to listen to a single one all the way through. Maybe I'm lacking a critical gene for ASMR appreciation, but I just flat out don't get it.

What I do enjoy, as a background when I'm reading or just relaxing and staring off into space, is a good thunderstorm or rainstorm audio.

Other than that, music is my first choice for my life soundtrack.

2. It's supposed to give you auditory sensory input to help you have a fantasy ...

... generally benign and relaxing, like swimming in a lake, receiving a massage, or getting a manicure.

You have the experience in your mind while someone describes it to you using a slow-paced, soft-spoken voice.

These amateur videos are all over YouTube. YT makes trends. People like to make videos on trending topics for various reasons, often just to get attention or to make a few fractions of a penny on the ads.

When done properly, these videos can be hypnotic and relaxing. I think the first few people who made ASMR videos may have had some talent for this game, but the ten thousand imitators that followed turned it to sh*t.

As for myself, I don't have the patience to sit and listen.
