I'm listening to the big ones, probably in Erie, one town over. It is loud! I'll be going to the Rockies game tomorrow night and I'll see those, but I can enjoy them w/o worrying about my pup.

3. Nah, I keep lousy hours

so staying up way past midnight is my usual thing, sometimes until it gets light out there.

What I hate is keeping the windows closed until the black clouds of burned gunpowder clear. I hate that smell.

This is a lifelong thing for me, delayed sleep phase disorder. I'm fine and I get plenty of sleep as long as I stay awake until 3 or 4 and sleep until noon. At that point, my eyes pop open and I'm rested.

I have to drug myself into "normal" hours and I never feel rested. Day jobs were torture. Fortunately, banking, showbiz and healthcare all allowed me to keep my lousy hours.

I got fired from a few jobs but things improved when I became self-employed. It is also so much easier to concentrate from 10 PM on - no phone calls.

So my yard ends up littered with whatever they shoot into the air, these are not legal in California either. They party for days and are without courtesy. There is so much of this stupid crap in my city that even if I report it to law enforcement they don't have resources to send anyone.

Our little town's police dept. just sends out an email telling everyone not to shoot them off and that's it. What I really hate is for the next week or two when you here one go off every now and then and it scares ya to death.

Guess they are taking 5-day weekend to a whole new level. They are probably drunk the whole time.

Living in "redneck" (hope I don't offend anyone) America is always an adventure. Last year, I managed to find the police scanner feed on the internet. The police just laugh it off.

My neighbors start with the explosions as soon as it gets warm. It's no use calling the police because this goes on all around the city. One of my neighbors made a mistake and complained to the partyers. Now he might as well have a target painted on his house.
