I'm not a vegetarian, but am a "live and let live" animal lover who releases spiders and snakes unharmed into the wild and generally leaves all wildlife alone, until...

RODENTS. I despise them all and will kill them on sight. Mice. Rats. Rabbits. Gophers. Rockchucks. They are the scourge of the earth, the scourge of rural living.

I love our chipmunks. They race and chase around here like ground-jets. I cede them all my strawberries and blueberries and they tend to leave the vegetable garden alone. I discovered last year, that by planting mint between the cucumbers, they would leave them alone.

The squirrels only come for the acorns and birdseed.
