Thousands of people have come out in support of boys from an Exeter school who borrowed the girls skirts and wore them in protest against the 'no shorts' uniform policy. ... A group of about 30 boys pulled on the Isca Academy tartan kilt over their shorts rather than wear long trousers.
The boys and their parents are campaigning to be allowed to wear shorts in hot weather. Other pupils later reported that many of the boys who joined Thursday's protest were put into isolation on Thursday morning.
Another pupil said: "Loads of them have been put in isolation for stupid reasons because the school doesn't like having no control over them."
The school head teacher Miss Aimee Mitchell has said that she is happy to consider changing the uniform policy in hot weather in the future, but needs to consult students and families first.

(15,805 posts)A uniform policy should apply uniformly to everyone. Who cares if kids wear pants, kilts or shorts as long as their nasty bits are covered? Good for the boys, and the girls who loaned them their skirts!

(15,805 posts)Tell TPTB that you want full equality and the end of gender based discrimination. State that you will no longer be a silent sex object for leering boys and nasty old men who are more interest in what's between your legs than between your ears. If the officials persist, tell them you will write a tell all letter to every member of the school board and name names.
