Pence gets a puppy

Washington (CNN)The country let out a collective "awww" nine days ago, when news broke that one of Vice President Mike Pence's family cats, Oreo, had died.

Oreo was the black-and-white cat; the other cat, Pickle, who is orange and white, is still alive. But with Oreo's death, that left just two pets at the vice president's residence, Pickle and Marlon Bundo, a rabbit, who has his own Instagram account.
That all changed this weekend, when the vice president and second lady Karen Pence returned to Indiana for a visit, and picked up two -- yes, two -- more family members. For Father's Day, the vice president got a surprise puppy named Harley, an Australian shepherd.

And because Pickle needs a buddy, the Pence's daughter, Charlotte, went with the second lady to a pet store to adopt a little gray kitten, named Hazel.

love and care for their dogs, cats (and even a rabbit), gives me a tiny tiny tiny bit of reassurance despite my utter disdain for his fundy misogynistic views.

The fact that the Pence family has two cats as well as dogs made me loathe him ever so slightly less. But only slightly.

candidates on their pet/animal policy. They finished in this order: Clinton, Pence, Kaine, and - dead last of course - Trump. I truly wished this would have come up during the debates. Even if you don't have, or can't have, pets, I think a question on general animal rights would have been in order. Trump's record on this so far is predictably execrable.

Anything from yelling at them to swatting them to forcing them to mind him with physical abuse. I'm very happy that he doesn't have any pets. I can't imagine letting them mess up the gilded palace!

6. I, too, am glad he doesn't have any pets. I don't think he likes animals.

That would have been a way better question to end the debate where they asked them to say something nice about each other. I think the answers would have been very, very revealing.
