for me it was Passengers with Anne Hathaway, Patrick Wilson, Andre Brougher and Diane Wiest. I saw it last night. My better half and I couldn't find anything on TV, we found this On Demand as a free movie.
It was suspenseful and I didn't have it figured it out until the last 3 minutes. I was also awed by the performance of Clea Duvall.
On imdb.com, it was written that the studio did little to help this film, because they wanted to pursue Anne Hathaway's performance in Rachel Getting Married as a potential Oscar winning role.

(70,127 posts)terrible reviews, but i thought it was truly taut thriller that kept you going the whole movie.
johnny depp and charlize theron.
maybe i liked it because it was filmed here in chi, and it was fun to pick out the parts where they tried to make it look like nyc. but i really loved it.

(7,011 posts)Mila Kunis is my guilty pleasure. She just lights up the screen. I think all of her movies have been better than they were given credit for.
Fortunately, Mrs. Genxlib agrees.
We enjoyed Friends with Benefits and Bad Moms

(8,445 posts)with Robert De Niro and John Travolta. I like just about everything with Robert De Niro. I thought it was good. I didn't even realize it was Travolta when I first started watching it. I still can't figure out the bad reviews.

But anyway, "Trance" - James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson, dir. Danny Boyle. I don't even understand what the hell was going on, really!! But loved it nevertheless -
"Goon" - really foul, nasty and - a word I had never used till I watched it - "profane"! Hockey player whose job is to beat the crap out of the opposition...Seann William Scott, Jay Baruchel, Kim Coates, Liev Schreiber - numerous perfect comedy moments - lots of blood, lots of heart! - not for the squeamish!
"Rocknrolla" - oh no, more nastiness. A young Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Mark Strong...Toby Kebbell playing a junkie, and he is...heaven. RnR has been compared to "Snatch" and...the other movie "Snatch" was compared to (lock/stock/3 smoking barrels I think).
"True Romance" - loved. Exuberant. Bloody. Hilarious. Nasty.
"The Assasination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford" - well, it ain't THAT violent, comparatively speaking! - But it's perfection, every kind of way, soundtrack (Nick Cave) and cinematography (Rogers Deakins) included!

(16,066 posts)Four stories are linked by a Chinese proverb and overlapping characters. A usually unadventurous man (Forest Whitaker) loses big on a horse race and robs a bank to pay off a gangster (Andy Garcia). The gangster's nephew goes on the town with a hit man (Brendan Fraser) who can see into the future. The hit man falls for a pop star (Sarah Michelle Gellar) whose contract is owned by the gangster. The pop star has a rare blood type sought by a doctor (Kevin Bacon) trying to save the love of his life

(15,384 posts)During the Mike/Sci-fi years, they showed, "Jack Frost," or, "Morozko," in the original Russian. I've heard tell that it's like some of our yearly holiday specials - a beloved tradition showed each year. I like folk tales of other countries and ordered the unriffed DVD. I think it's pretty enjoyable, and they really put a lot of effort in costumes, special effects, and story-telling into it.

The dark comedy plot is hysterical.
