and this falls under Be Careful What You Wish For...

I had lunch with an old friend today. She had been out of work for a while and she used to call and text me all the time. I made time for her when it wasn't always easy but that's what friends do.

Then she started working again (which is a VERY good thing!) and her contact became very infrequent. I texted and called but didn't want to stalk.

Several months later, out of the blue, she called and asked me to have lunch. She picked me up and asked where I wanted to go. I made a suggestion but she didn't feel like that place. I suggested another place. Again, no. I asked her where *she* wanted to go and she named a place so we headed that way. Before we got there, she changed her mind and suggested a different place. Which was the exact same kind of food as the first place I suggested. Fine. I'm open.

She parked in one parking spot but decided she didn't like it so she got back in the car and and moved to another spot.

Inside, she debated on what to order. I forgot she usually asked the server to "surprise her" with something. She asked the waitress about where the tuna had been purchased. After confirming with the chef, she ordered it. When it arrived, she ate part and then claimed she should NOT have ordered it and then she described how awful the whole dish was. I offered her half of my sandwich but she didn't want it.

She whined about work and her husband. I think she was tired and needed to vent. I did the best I could to chit chat about the last few months but I honestly couldn't wait to get home.

I hope she was just having a bad day. But I had forgotten how picky she was about restaurants and ordering food.
