The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy wife and I have been married for 34 years today.
You see all those cards and sayings about love growing stronger over the years but in my case I don't think that my love for Becky(Rebecca) could get any stronger.
My appreciation and admiration for her yes, but I can't imagine my love getting stronger, because there is no measurement great enough or high enough, for how much I love her.
I have always loved her so very, very much, it's hard to put into words.
I'm so lucky that she decided to marry me, and stay with me for all these years, and I look forward to the years that we have ahead of us.
Sometimes it hasn't been easy, especially the past few years(because of our, and especially my) health problems, but she's always here for me.
I can't imagine my life without her.

(206,006 posts)It sure sounds like she's been fortunate to have you, too! How wonderful that you found each other - and still share such an enduring love and partnership... Here's to many, many more!

(1,408 posts)Not saying it hasn't been quite a ride though. We come from two very different backgrounds. She calmed me down some(made me think) and she had experiences with me that she may not have had if she had married someone in her circle of friends that she had back when we met.
That opposites thing, I guess.

(16,903 posts)coming from Saint Augustine! There is no way to measure the quality of life you have been enjoying for 34 years. You are blessed.
bearssoapbox
(1,408 posts)And you're right, on both counts.
Hello St. Augustine. Was there about 40yrs. ago. It was a beautiful, amazing trip. The buildings...WOW! Spent an extra day there to sightsee. Could have spent a month.

(34,447 posts)I lost my husband & best friend 5 months and 3 days after celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. He had lived with Type I DM for 55 years. I was lucky to have had him for as long as I did, but it still doesn't seem long enough. Cherish every day you have together.
Again, congratulations!

(1,408 posts)Condolences on your loss and congratulations on the time you had together.
I've had 3 life threatening scares in in the past 5 yrs. and I don't know what I would have done without her and her support.
Take care.

(24,041 posts)I think you put your feelings into words very well. Very well indeed.
What woman would not thrill to know that this is how her husband feels about her? I'm sure you have told her again and again. I am going to suggest that you let her read this thread. I'll bet she'll love it.
Congratulations to you both.

(1,408 posts)I will show it to her. I've written a few things over the years and she has liked them it's just...

(1,408 posts)A big Congratulations on your 30th! I hope you have many more.
On our 30th I had been home for 3 weeks after spending more than 3 months in a nursing home recovering from what the docs called a 'pulmonary event' combined with AFIB and a weakening/thickening heart muscle. Still working on the recovery after a few setbacks over the years.

(1,408 posts)From both of us.
Don't give up looking. You may find it when you least expect it.
I met Becky on the week she was moving to Texas(from Ohio). We had one date. Almost a year later she showed up at my work, I was a bouncer at a bar, and it was like she had never left. We took up right where we left off. Sounds kind of sappy, I know but, , what can I say?
We got married about 2 years later and I believe that I got the better part of the deal.
So keep looking and good luck.
I see you're from Ohio too. I'm not native born, family moved here when I was 9, but my wife is.
It sometimes seems that I'm related to half the county by marriage.
Take care.
