Here are three of my examples
1: Some of the old National Lampoon. I have .pdfs from a now dead site that had the 'Poon back in the '70's when it was funny. Some of it, the comics, Bruce McCall's parodies and more are still funny. But did I ever think Mrs. Agnew's Diary, Mr. Chatterbox, My Meter is Running, and more were funny? Apparently I did, but not now.
2: P.J. O'Rourke's "Parliament of Whores". when I bought it, back in the '80's I thought it was a hoot. Now I think it's just spoiled brat smartassery.
3: Sol Weinstein's "Loxfinger" a James Bond parody about Secret Agent Israel Bond, Agent Oy-Oy Seven. I roared 40 years ago when I read it. Now I think it's just a succession of bad Jew Jokes. He was capable of better, Jonathan Segal Chicken, Everything You Never Wanted to Know about Sex but I'll Tell You Anyway.
Does anybody else have anything like that?

I caught it on TV several months ago and, while I chuckled a few times, I was mostly shaking my head. Didn't even finish it.

Orrex
(63,216 posts)I loved it and laughed my ass off. I was thirteen, and the faux-serious "anthropological" narrative voiceover seemed very funny to me.
I saw it again recently for the first time in about 30 years, and I could hardly stand it. The weird "noble savage" vibe creeped me out profoundly, etc.
What a difference three decades make...

(7,809 posts)- Slapstick
- The first 2 seasons of M*A*S*H (with Trapper John)
- The Marx Brothers (but I still like them)
- Most sitcoms (but Scrubs was pretty innovative when it went off the formulaic crap)
- Most Stand-up
Things I DO find funny:
- British comedy: go to YouTube and search for "Would I Lie to You" or "Stephen Fry QI season A" (ya gotta put in that whole thing or you won't find it)
- well done spoofs and satire
- lines in TV shows that insult or satirize or insult politicians I don't like. For example, Agents of SHIELD have had some lines about alternative facts and other nonsensical tRump regime crap this season. The lines fit the situation perfectly and if you didn't keep up with politics, you wouldn't notice them. If you hate our current political shitfest, they're hilarious.
