Interesting day in clinic. I worked in our mainstream clinic today in place of my supervising physician, who is on vacation.
Busier than the homeless clinic right now.
I visited with two transgender patients today. That's a pretty rare occurrence. One was female transitioning to male. He seemed relieved to be able to visit with a sympathetic provider. I referred him at his request to transgender counseling, which seems to be a requirement for anyone considering gender re-assignment surgery.
Interesting day. It was good to practice medicine again, instead of sitting around twiddling my thumbs.
Hello to all my Lounge friends.
I love you all...

(149,645 posts)You are to be commended for your sensitive interaction with the transgender patient. Not everyone could do that.
And I am very glad to see that you've changed your sigline back to what it was when I first joined, back in 2005! It made a huge impression on me at the time...
What decided you to change it?
And........nice to see you tonight!

(66,409 posts)I guess I changed it right after the election results. Pretty much says it all right there. I was in such a deep, depressed daze, I could barely function. It reminded me of sElection 2000, all over again. Time to revisit the things that gave me comfort at that time...

(10,099 posts)I gave up beer and don't drink very much but have been splurging on single malts. Still trying to get a grasp of what I like and don't. I have had some of the bigger brands, some were in my sweet spot, some were totally not. So, since the stuff is a bit pricey I drank the stuff I didn't like that much first.
Any single malt fans out there on this thread? I'm open to suggestions but don't want to spend 250 plus on a bottle.
Peace

(66,409 posts)I have a few more shots left in my bottle of Laphroiag downstairs. Next up: a bottle of Lagavulin, the best single malt I've ever had in my life. So peaty, it smells like a campfire when you crack the seal. So smooth, it goes down like oil. Wonderful stuff!

(10,099 posts)I need more details please, each brand seems to have 10 different ones at least. Years Old? I have enjoyed all the Glenffidich (sp) I have tried, but didn't really care for the Glennlivets. Had some McCalllan tongih, which I did like. I have Laphroiag on my list to get, what one do you recommend? What Lagafulin?
Sorry, don't mean to hog the thread.
Peace

(66,409 posts)one of the outer islands offshore from the Scottish mainland.
I owe my affinity for it to my brother, who travels to Scotland every couple of years, looking for good single malts, popular or obscure. He comes back with veritable treasures to share with his family.
I admit, before his guidance, I drank blends...
I know better now...

(66,409 posts)Aristus is just a Latinized version of Aristocles, which was Plato's real name. I'm a fan, but I'm not comparing myself to Plato in any way...
I thought I made up the name, but it turns out, there are several Catholic saints named Aristus. Interesting...
