Surgery update # next

My surgery was scheduled for 7AM tomorrow ....then I got a call from Fort Worth Brain and Spine about 11AM. It seems that the hospital looked at the records this morning and decided that I needed to be cleared by a cardiologist by 5PM today or surgery would be canceled.

I thought I had the monopoly on waiting til the last minute, but not so much

Fortunately the scheduler there is very nice and extremely efficient. About 12 she told us that she was able to get me in to see a doctor in Fort Worth north of the lake at 12:45, but told them that we might be a little late - which was an understatement ...

We live out in the country about 70 miles from Ft, Worth.

So we scrambled to get ready and on the road as soon as possible. All the way there I was trying to find the place on my phone using Google Maps. Every time I zoomed in it moved to a new location.

We finally got there - late - to find an empty office and a letter on the door saying "we moved up the road" with the new address.

The little lady in my cell phone told us to take a left (South) out of the parking lot. Then she told us to make a u-turn (recalculating?) and drive ... and drive ... and dive ... suddenly she told us that we had reached our destination. I looked around and all I could see for a quarter mile or so was mesquite, cows, and cactus.

To make a long story short, we finally found the place just a short distance from where it had been originally.

Good thing it had been a slow day for them and we got in to see the doctor pretty fast - it was 2:30.

I took another EKG and was examined. I have been set up for an echo cardiogram for next Friday. If all goes well, I will have surgery the next week.

I saw a meme on Facebook the other day which seems very appropriate here:

My life can be summed up in on sentence:
"Well that didn't go as planned."

I'm so sorry for your last minute delay, but I hope everything works out for you to have the procedure you need! Best of luck!

(Not that there is a particular reason to do that)

The last surgery I had there was a cervical fusion (different level) about 4 years ago which was about the third time we were supposed to be clearing out Guantanamo. I kind of figured that it was true and that this hospital had gotten a deal on used beds from there. They were torture

... and I'm pretty sure that prisoners at Gitmo didn't get morphine.

The first time that I had this particular surgery was in Plano, TX. I was in the que waiting to go into surgery when my doctor came and told me that my final bllod draw showed and increase in white blood cells.

It took another week or to of tests trying to figure out what the problem was, I even saw an Oncologist who thought I might have leukemia. When the test came back showing no leukemia they decided I could have the surgery.

It seemed like it was all for naught. On the bright side, it pumped a few thousand more dollars into the medical system.

developed a maroon bluebonnet for some ungodly reason.

WOW! About 45 years ago?! Well' time flies when you're getting old.

Anyway, I think now they have outdone themselves and developed and invisible bluebonnet. Those are the only ones growing here now.

On the bright side, the Irises are up ....

I guess the bright side is to be relieved that they are being cautious. Life is so complicated anymore.

Onward, onward.....
