I have a PIPE question.

I bought this ceramic pipe. Long story, short it has a little hole built into the bowl. You can see it here..


So is that where your thumb goes when you light the bowl? I have never really had a pipe before, so I don't know. Does the hole regulate the flow down the tube or not? Anyway, thanks in advance!

And, yes, I will be buying a Vaporizer next month, but not at the 200 dollar price I saw. One for 79 dollars looked sufficient.

1. It is like a carburetor on a gas powered car.

In this instance it regulates the air flow, instead of gas flow.

When you remove your thumb from the hole, the bowl of the pipe gets more air and burns better.

2. Yes, thumb over the hole....

Then right before your done, you remove your thumb wile still inhaling. This will open up the air flow and pushes the smoke out of the pipe. This has two benefits: 1 additional oxygen to complement the smoke you just breathed in, 2 clearing out the pipe shaft of smoke that will almost instantly go stale and cause you to choke on your next puff.

Not sure what you're asking about here but let me tell you about your pipe.

The 'hole' is for a super-charger effect. You cover the hole, so when you're lighting the product, all the air is being drawn through the bowl and product, which, along with a flame will ignite the product.

At this point, if you had a glass bulb you could see the smoke building up....when it looks like enough, and while still 'sucking' you remove your finger from the hole and the smoke is 'super-charged' into your lungs.

Even seasoned smokers like myself soon tire of this assault on our lungs. A better alternative is a pipe WITHOUT a "hole" where you can draw smoke into your lungs at your leisure.

Or, if you are into the spectacle, get a glass pipe that provides the visuals.
