(17,314 posts)for the sound effects! Like the harps of angels. NOT!

(205,766 posts)There was a long pause - then it went to the color pattern and that distinctive high pitched sign off whistle!
I remember that!

(17,314 posts)I remember that same high-pitch shrill sound used when they put the emergency test screen on too. "This is just a test. If this had been a real emergency..."

(53,339 posts)Strange...his name also came up in a GD thread posted by a DUer planning to relocate to Simi Valley, California.

(205,766 posts)Yesterday, while I was at the dentist, they were watching some home improvement show working on houses in Yorba Linda, California. I mentioned it and I think my dentist got it, but when we had discussed the election, her assistant told me that when Al Gore ran in 2000, she was in second grade!

(205,766 posts)I had nothing to distract me from the drilling. I was actually there on election day, so I filled them in on a lot of things, LOL. I know I've been spending too much time at the dentist...

(53,339 posts)I've had a bunch of major oral surgeries including three jaw reconstructions and many, many clinic procedures (including one to lower the floor of my mouth). I had my jaw wired for 2 months or longer 5 different times after operations. I think I have more dental war stories than actual war stories.
Fortunately I've always had great care from the very best docs. But I can still be a little gun-shy whenever I have to go back to the dentist.

(205,766 posts)And I know lots of people would do anything to avoid the dentist. I found out belatedly that my aunt needed a prescription for Valium before going. And this is the same dentist, a very lovely woman who has a lot of kids as patients. I realize that I've been fortunate with my teeth, I just procrastinated in going back. The thing is, I not only was at the dentist on election day, but I was also there on 9/11. Too bad I'm not more superstitious...

(205,766 posts)That was such a bizarre day, had nothing to do with my dentist appointment, was quite uneventful except for what we were seeing on TV. That scared me witless and really woke me up. That's the reason I ended up finding DU. Someone here once suggested I mention that to my dentist, and that's how I found out she's "one of us." She was going to schedule a follow up or inauguration Day, but I didn't dare. Now I'm wondering if it would have made a difference.

One of these days your dentist will catch on and make appointments for you when she's planning to be out of the country...
...hopefully she'll check in with me first so we can coordinate our travel.
