How would you install a CB radio in a small car (Honda Civic) without drilling holes in the dash or otherwise tearing things up or modifying the interior?

(34,661 posts)That way you only have to drill one hole through the fire wall for your cable.

(10,418 posts)I'm talking about mounting the CB. I've got the antenna wire going out through the trunk and the antenna mounted on the trunk lid. No modifications required so far.

(23,350 posts)Is your Civic going to have one of those really cool ten-foot antennae?

(115,677 posts)My dad got into ham radio after reading On the Beach in 1960. He had a mobile unit for his car as well as stationary at home and talked with people all over the world.
CB is easier though.

(18,479 posts)What you see here is the whole thing. Everything is in the handset.
Is does convert quickly into a walkie-talkie style as well.
I have a long drive to work.

(10,418 posts)It's a Cobra 29 LX, so it's a full size radio. I have a long drive to work as well- 94 mile round trip. I'm also a trucker.

(10,418 posts)Right now I'm doing that round trip 6 nights a week. I don't think that's all that close to Somerset.

(9,900 posts)Power wires are there, you'd just need to route the antenna wire back there. Instead of music, you'll have to sing along to the squelch static.
Tobin S.
(10,418 posts)I have a 12 volt outlet adapter so no need to worry about power wires. I ended up mounting the CB to the side of the gear shifter console. So I did have to make a few screw holes, but at least they aren't in the dash.

(9,900 posts)Either way that seems like it would eat up leg room.
Tobin S.
(10,418 posts)It does take up a little leg room, but my wife is 5 foot nothin' so it doesn't affect her. Nobody else usually rides with me.

(38,317 posts)And a CB radio that plugs into a cigarette lighter outlet.
There's even an FCC CB license somewhere in my ancient documents.
