Because it must be some pretty strong stuff. Never mind the events that are going on right now with the cancellation of the premiere, have you seen the trailer for this thing? I mean I'm a dog person, but what the serious fuck?
So dogs just get reincarnated to other dogs? I expect this movie to be destroyed at the Razzies this year.

(6,496 posts)By things, you mean dogs? Wow, dogs do so much to help people too. I have such a wonder dog. Have some respect for dogs and don't call them things.

(115,862 posts)Dogs are the best "things" the world has to offer (second only to cats). If you're trying to be funny, you failed. If you're serious, you failed even more.

(2,771 posts)Saw the commercial for this and immediately thought it felt like a movie aimed squarely at the religious crowd. Only cache is the folks it's aimed at don't think fido goes to heaven.

This is one of the reasons why while I believe in god. I can't get with religions and the folks that run them. I've known plenty of "animals" with more empathy in a single paw than the entire body of the some "human beings" I've had the displeasure of knowing.

(38,328 posts)We share this planet with many other sentient species.
Well no, the big problem is that we humans don't share.
There's a number of animal species I'd accept as people. I'm not waiting pointlessly for any space aliens (or angels) to visit Earth because we've got some very intriguing non-human intelligences here already, everyone from elephants to orcas to parrots to orangutans.
Of course I accept all humans as people too, with fully equal rights, which is more than some humans can manage, believing they are superior to others, more worthy, as if they were smart and picked the right sort of circumstance to be born into and then pulled themselves up by their bootstraps above the rest of us.
People treating other people as "animals" is where we humans have always gone wrong. We shouldn't be treating humans *OR* animals with cruelty.
Pretending we humans are not animals is silly. Our technology may turn out to be our downfall. Plenty of innovative species in earth's long history have experienced exponential population growth followed by rapid collapse. Population growth of the sort we humans are experiencing never ends well. It seems more and more likely that a hundred thousand years from now nothing will be left of humanity but a distinctive layer of trash in the geologic record.
I think most people who have kind feelings toward animals generally have kind feelings toward their fellow human beings.
Arguments about souls seem silly.
You made me feel less silly about referring to the "animals" in my life as cat and dog people.

(20,588 posts)they have worn out the after life of falling in love, finishing what was unfinished, living forever, and walking around in beautiful settings. Knowing that we grieve when our cats and dogs die, they have fixed that too - they live forever!!!

(16,334 posts)supposed to be redeeming I guess but it tore my heart wide open. I don't need to feel that while watching a movie. I've seen the previews and I don't intend to see the whole film.
Oddly enough, one of the pups I have now behaves very similar to one I lost a year before I got the new ones.
