One doesn't want to believe that a 53-year-old man's ticker just stops ticking. Perhaps there were aggravating circumstances -- like a heroin addiction -- but people of much younger ages who are seemingly completely healthy have suffered the same fate.

You never know how long you've got. Make the most of it (easier said than done some days, of course).
