So I have a friend is attending her daughter's wedding in California and she asked me to cat sit for her while she was away. She left last night and when I went this morning, I wasn't able to turn the lock with the key she gave me. I tried called her and sent her a text message, but have yet to get a response. I'm not sure what to do.

Meanwhile, it's Saturday night and the cat will be inviting the other felines in the area for a wild party with catnip spread out on the table and mirrors for snorting.
Joking aside, good luck with the door lock because I don't want the cat to starve.

(7,526 posts)The other person commutes 45 minutes or an hour to work in our city, so she gets to skip the commute for a week in exchange for taking care of kitty. I'm going to go back tomorrow morning and try my key again. If that doesn't work I'll have to pray that the other person has better luck than me. Unfortunately I don't have their contact information so I may end up leaving a note on the door explaining the situation and asking them to call me and tell me their key worked just for my own sanity.

(971 posts)Use graphite. WD-40 really can gum them up. It leaves an oily film that attracts and holds dirt and dust. It may help at first, but make things worse in the future. Good luck, wiggling may do the trick. And it's free.
I don't want anyone to feel that I'm "mansplaining", I'm more "myth busting", if anything. It's a common thing to use, but it causes problems. If I can warn people, and tell why, it's easier to understand.
