Anyone here ever read "Man and His Symbols" by Carl Jung?

The book was written in the early sixties before more egalitarian language started taking hold in our writing hence the book title. I guess a Jungian psychologist writing the book today would call it Humanity and Our Symbols. So the book is about all people and not just men.

It's a very interesting book and I recommend it to everyone. If you've read it I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on it. I'm wondering since the book is over 50 years old how much those original ideas from Jung have evolved in the field of psychology. I have another book here that I've just started that was originally published in 1972 by Jungian psychologist Edward F. Edinger called Ego and Archetype.

I've always thought that dreams meant something. According to Jung they mean more than I ever imagined.

"Man" is generic. It refers to the species. WinkyDink Oct 2016 #1

Yep. Christians can get just as much value out of Jung as atheists. Tobin S. Oct 2016 #7

Have been reading Jung's works for decades.

If you keep it up, you'll find your world view changing.

A friend and I were talking the other day shortly after I had started reading that book. I have also been reading about Eastern philosophy. We both said that we used to be materialists. Now both of us are thinking that there is much more to us, and perhaps the universe, than we had been thinking before.

Jung is quite popular across many disciplines and belief systems.
