Bittersweet memorial today for an old friend.

I have known the guy for nearly 40 years. He changed in the last several years
(too much Rush L.), so I only saw him occasionally. At today's memorial I saw so
many old friends, people I had not seen in many years. One couple from Phoenix
is coming out for dinner tonight. I wish we could all get together other than at funerals
or memorials. It's hard to cry and laugh at the same time.

A guy who I have known since I was a kid died very suddenly last year. He was a guy who my dad had employed off and on since the 80s. And while that was horrible we did get to see a lot of people who my dad employed over the years at the funeral. It was a good thing that came out of something very bad. But there definitely needs to be more get together occasions than weddings and funerals..
