I hope they're making the rest of the trilogy.

mostly because the original Swede version is fresh in my mind, and from what I can see..its basically the same movie, with different actors.

I would say that both are faithful to the source text, but that they're not the same movie. In a lot of ways, a lot of the things about Swedish law and Swedish culture that would confuse American audiences have been changed. Certain details have been changed and the American film butchers the "reveal" at the end. (edit: I would unfortunately say that it was "dumbed-down" and unnecessarily.)

If I hadn't read the books, the American film would not have bothered me the way it did. I'd say that the American film is better acted and directed (with the exception of Noomi Rapace being 100x the actress that Rooney Mara is, if only on account of age and maturity.), but the Swedish film is a much more honest film and a better narrative.

I was worried because someone said the sequels were not as good as the first one, but it got more intense as it went on. What an awesome trilogy!

that they were pretty good. But I must say, the books are even better. I liked the second book better than the first book and totally loved the third book. I would recommend reading the third book before watching the movie as there is a lot more going on in the book than the movie.

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.. with Daniel Crag. I have to admit, the Swede version was better, and there were some changes made from the original. It was okay.. but I liked Noomi Rapace better than Rooney Mara.
