(16,954 posts)dept for free. It was more like a furniture pickup area that was also where the return section was. But I think they also gave them to me right at the Customer Service return area. I've been a couple times for them. Just took a number and waited and told them what I needed and they gave me a handful. That was a couple years ago now. I would bet they still do that.
Good luck.

(958 posts)Look in the pull out drawers. There will be a drawer labeled "furniture parts". See if they have thoses pegs made out of steel. Get enough to hang the whole shelf.

(34,170 posts)...he asked why there were male and female bolts. I realized that this, the hardware store, was where I was going to give my son his first birds and bees talk.
So I took the two bolts and showed him how the two bolts screwed into each other.

He was still confused and asked why it was they were called male and female. So I said in a hushed voice that one bolt was like a boys private part and the other was like a girls private part. And his eyes got really big, he blushed, and asked if he was supposed to know about that.
I have him a hug and said that now was as good a time as any. And we went to get ice cream.

(29,414 posts)but I guess it takes being a draftsman (like I) to understand them without confusion. Either that, or you have to be European. They don't seem to have any problems with them, either

(29,414 posts)No words, just show people in pictures and exploded drawings how things go together
As pinboy pointed out, too many people refuse to follow any instructions, and then blame the instructions when it doesn't go together properly.

(53,339 posts)Some peope are good at following directions, and some aren't. How many people pull something out of a package and try to put it together without even reading the instructions, thinking it will just be a snap?
My older brother is a case in point. He stil stubbornly refuses to read directions, after many decades of running into problems that way. I still remember, as a kid, watching him remove, clean and reassemble a carburetor--and having parts left over.

(1,232 posts)requested small bits parts. Seriously, just like a snack machine. Cheap too, about 2 bucks for a bag of the specific tiny bits you typically need.
It's kinda cool.
But if you have to get spare parts, you just go to the service desk, don't go wandering around the store.
I LOVE Ikea. I've built and installed most everything of theirs, without one single problem, ever. In fact, with larger orders (I've installed numerous kitchens) they've occasionally sent me extra stuff which I happily exchanged for store credit cards, yay me!
I think their instructions are absolutely logical, clear and extremely efficient.

(29,414 posts)We've seen how people refuse to read any kind of instructions and if you've built as much as you say, I've seen it used as an example for odd jobs through the service Task Rabbit. Unless you're still in France and are already doing just that as a service?

Oh, damn, my Ikea shelf just brokeAnd there are books literally EVERYWHERE!
Oh, the humanity!
I need some more o' them little pins
But the IkEA store map was drawn by the guy who does their assembly diagrams
And I'm lost in bonkers again
And to top it off, my wife won't leave
but my dog done run away (I loved that dog)
And now I got squeaky shoes to boot!
Jack oblivion was tempting
But I crushed me up some mini Heath Bars, sprinkled them on some ice cream...
And ate the pain away.
Ate the pain away, oh
Ate the pain away
I thought books literally everywhere was a nice touch, if I do say so myself.
