Waiting on my AC guy to show up. UPDATE: done now $700.

Getting a little toasty. Currently 99° with 41% Humidity, HI 108° outside.

Jason says the condenser fan has frozen bearings. He's got one at his house and will put it in. Should have it running by dark.

final damage: new motor, new fan blade assembly, cleaning, duct repair.

Good that it'll be fixed soon. We had same temp when you posted, but only 7% humidity. pinboy3niner Jul 2016 #4

though you are getting at the upper end of humidity. fan helps though. just don't leave it on in an empty room (pet peeve) as it is a motor that is generating more heat.

Jugs full of ice sitting in a container that can catch the condensate water in front of a fan works too. I tried that once and it does work.

I took several empty and cleaned milk jugs, filled them close to full with water ( to allow for expansion) and put them into the chest freezer till they were froze solid. Then I placed a boot tray in front of a square fan and put 3 frozen jugs on the boot tray. This was set up near my favorite chair in the living room with the air directed at the chair where I sat watching a movie on netflix and enjoyed the nice, cool air.

I set my A/C to come on at 85°, but I can hang out in my shorts.

... and that's low for this time of year.

I shudder to think of what it's like in DC.
