Getting a little toasty. Currently 99° with 41% Humidity, HI 108° outside.
Jason says the condenser fan has frozen bearings. He's got one at his house and will put it in. Should have it running by dark.
final damage: new motor, new fan blade assembly, cleaning, duct repair.

(55,014 posts)though you are getting at the upper end of humidity. fan helps though. just don't leave it on in an empty room (pet peeve) as it is a motor that is generating more heat.

(36,312 posts)Jugs full of ice sitting in a container that can catch the condensate water in front of a fan works too. I tried that once and it does work.
I took several empty and cleaned milk jugs, filled them close to full with water ( to allow for expansion) and put them into the chest freezer till they were froze solid. Then I placed a boot tray in front of a square fan and put 3 frozen jugs on the boot tray. This was set up near my favorite chair in the living room with the air directed at the chair where I sat watching a movie on netflix and enjoyed the nice, cool air.

(17,204 posts)... and that's low for this time of year.
I shudder to think of what it's like in DC.
