Hooked on the Hallmark Channel

With all the crap going on now, I had to take a weekend break. Got into the Hallmark Channel Christmas in July movies.

Now I can't go to bed until I find out what happens.

At least they help. Needed my cockles warmed.

I know that's 35 years older than you. She got hooked on it a few years ago when they started a series "Cedar Cove", based on the Debbie Macomber books.

It also got my mom hooked on Macomber books. They are the only books she will read, and I am always downloading them onto her notebook from our library.

She is going to watch the movie that's on at 9 (EST) tonight.

Dinner is over, Mom is at the dining room table, reading her latest Macomber download.

before the notebook, I would order the books (large print) from the library. She read Blossom St., Rose Harbor and many of the other series. She finished some of the series via the notebook. Mom is now reading Macomber's stand alone books.

...for my now-husband to realize that he loved me. the main appeal of this movie is how quickly the young man fell head-over-heels for the young woman, and knew that she was the one. Unrealistic, of course, but delightfully romantic.

Hallmark Movie Channel? They have introduced a lot of cozy mystery movies which, if you mother likes, might give her a whole other genre of books to read. Hallmark Movie Channel has introduced the Aurora Teagarden series of which there are several books.

I tripped upon the genre of cozy mysteries about 3 years ago and love them. The generally tend to have smart women from different types of working backgrounds solving mysteries with their brains and there are often pets in the picture.

Some great series are:

Booktown Mysteries by Lorna Barrett
Bibliophile Mysteries by Kate Carlisle
A Fixer Upper Mystery - Kate Carlisle
Amish Quilt Shop mysteries by Isabella Alan
Domestic Diva Mysteries by Krista Davis
Cat in the Stack Mysteries (which features a male main character) and the Southern Ladies Mysteries (a spin off of Cat In the Stack Mysteries) by Miranda James
An Orchard Mysteries by Sheila Connolly
Southern Sewing Circle Mysteries by Elizabeth Lynn Casey
A Bookmobile Cat Mystery by Laurie Cass
A Cookbook Nook Mystery by Daryl Wood Gerber
Skeleton in the Family series by Leigh Perry - different but I love the audio books in this series.
Vintage Kitchen Series by Victoria Hamilton
Cupcake Bakery Mystery Series by Jenn McKenlay
Spice Shop Mysteries by Tamar Myers - I loved the descriptions of Seattle and it made me want to hop a plane to visit the city

I was never a huge mystery reader until I discovered cozy mysteries. There a so many series out there that it has opened up a whole large realm of reading possibilities. There are so many series that I read now that I have developed an excel spreadsheet to track new book release dates.

8. Mr. froggy is hooked on it too.

When he's not downstairs working on his RC airplanes, quads and whatnot, he's upstairs waiting for my crime show (Forensic Files reruns are my favorite) to end so he can switch to a Hallmark movie. I usually just hand him the remote anyway and go do something else. Some Hallmark movies are just plain god-awful, and why is the same actress in so many of them? And why does she wear plastic-looking false eyelashes even to bed?

Mr. froggy's latest obsession was Hallmark's The Good Witch.
