Need Hotel Ideas

I'm looking for some liberal/democratic/ non-conservative owned hotels or hotel chains to stay at in Manhattan. Marriott is out (for obvious reasons), Omni is out (conservative owner). Not sure about the others? Loews?
Does anyone have any ideas, or any links to any lists that can help?

Thanks!

I stayed in this one last year and loved it. Many of these places support the local community and help homeowners. The people that owned this one were great.
