Put my hand too close to the nest, not knowing it was there. He got me good right on the tip of my index finger. Hurt like the dickens.
The only thing I could think of, since I had no idea wtf had just bitten me but it was right where a diabetic might prick a finger for a sugar test, I started squeezing the finger up toward the bite like one would squeeze to get a drop of blood out (my thought wasn't venom but cleaning the wound with fresh blood) while cussing enough I'm glad my roommate's daughters were asleep. It did succeed in getting some clear fluid out, whether that was plasma or venom I don't know. (Did confirm with a flashlight it was a wasp, not a spider).
Then washed it, applied a wet tobacco compress, took two Benadryl, and iced it. It's much less lke a sausage now.

I remember once an ant bit me so hard, it couldn't free itself, its jaws were so imbedded in my skin. It was scrambling with all six of its feet, trying to pull itself out.
It really hurt, but I felt bad for the poor thing and gently eased it out of my skin and sent it on its way.
Left an itchy mark for a few days!!

(60,010 posts)and keep it from turning into that ugly head and thus a dark itching mark.
Discovered it by accident, but use it all the time here in fire ant hell.
also same for bee stings. Just dab a bit on every time you feel it, about 4-5 time the first day, and at night. works fast and leaves no marks.

(8,311 posts)I suspect it was more like a dirt dauber than a standard wasp, or the whole nest would have been after me vs just the one saying WTF are you doing messing with my home....
It got red all the way up my arm, and it's a good thing I took my ring on that hand immediately, but no epipen required. Red wasps or yellow jackets even on an extremity can be a quick trip to the hospital.

(55,019 posts)Trying to swim for exercise (and to freaking cool off) but it is pretty dry now and the damn bees and wasps won't stay out of my pool (bag of water on sticks, LOL) even though I gave them one of thier own! (wading pool with a pile of rocks in the middle)
Getting tired of it, can't wait till it rains! Bees are actually fucking DUMB. They just FALL in the water. At least the wasps can land on it and then fly away, bees are just stupid.
