We lived in the same building, so we would get together, drink and play Doors music. Went to see the movie at the theater at least twice, but maybe three times. We read the book too and IIRC, Jim wrote the song after coming off amphetamines, when he was feeling alienated.

We had such a crazy, manic kind of blast that Spring!
