Most expensive bottle of liquor / drink you've ever bought...?

What was that one time you said 'F it' and bought the best bottle you could afford.

What was it and where did you get it?

Same goes for ridiculous drinks in a bar...

I bought a bottle of both the 2013 and 2015 releases. The first was $175. The second was $200. Both were for a 1 pint bottle. Both times I traveled to Gillespie county, Texas to make sure I could get a bottle.

I was inspired by a $130 bottle of small batch barrel proof whiskey I bought last week.

I always like to splurge before a deployment. This stuff is amazing.

Previously, I had known only Laphroaig, and I wasn't impressed with it. Too peaty for my tastes. Then a friend poured me Caol Isla and Lagavulin, and found I really enjoy the smokey and slightly peaty Islays much more.

I don't drink very often. A bottle will last me a couple of years, so I don't mind forking over big bucks for a quality product. I keep a bottle of Lagavulin 16, a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15, and a bottle of Glenlivet 12 in my cabinet that I usually only break out when we have company.

But I guess it would be an $80 dollar bottle of scotch for me or a $75 dollar bottle of Veuve Champaign for a gift to a friend.

I'm good with a decent bottle of Glenlivet. Nothing fancy. It's going to give me a headache and gout so why splurge?

Like Curly said, "I'll have rotten eggs and burnt toast. I have a tape worm and it's good enough for him"

A buddy of mine bough me some Rye. I thought Rye????? I only know about it from blues songs. But I liked it. I have a bottle of Bullet Rye. I take a nip and tuck once in a while.

Retails today for around $750 a bottle.

Had it back in the mid 1980's and it was around $150. That was half a weeks pay!

But man.....what a wine

$45, but for me, that is "expensive."

Selective maturation in new Limousin oak casks, usually reserved for wine, has added delicate overtones of the spices highly prized in fine wines, while complementing the elegance of the single malt.

I was mostly a beer domestic beer drinker, but occasionally treated myself to some scotch. A 30ish dollar bottle of Chivas Regal is probably the most I ever spent on myself.

My wife is a Cognac aficionado. Has been for years. A snifter almost every evening. For Christmas and for her birthday, each year, I get het a $70ish bottle of Courvoisier VS. Once, years ago I splurged and got her a $180 bottle of Hennessy XO.

About 20 years ago I was playing a round of golf with some friends. I had seen Johnnie Walker Blue at bars and high-end restaurants sometimes advertised at $20-30 a shot.
One guy was a free-lance writer. He had spent about half a day doing a project for a friend and had refused payment, so the guy gave him a pint bottle of JW Blue, I believe it went for about $120 in the store back then. He insisted that everyone have a sip and you can guess the rest. We ended up swigging the entire bottle (which was in a paper sack) like a $3 bottle of wine before the round was over.

Other than that, I have purchased a bottle of Dom Perignon on 3 occasions for special events. Other than that a good malt scotch would be my high end purchase.

and it was awesome. WAY better than the 10yo. Sometimes I'll grab a bottle of Quarter Cask which I find to be in between the 10 and 18 in both price and flavor.

My next full bottle will probably be The Balvenie Caribbean Cask.

My work associates and I were at a hotel bar in Tampa a little while back and they had a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle in the case but they wouldn't sell us any. They had just gotten it in and it wasn't in their computer yet. Pretty sure that would have been the most expensive had we been able to get it lol.

I've always had a thing for rum... and on the occasion of our 5th anniversary, Lyric decide to get us a fifth of 23-yr-old Ron Zacapa Centenario... $75, including shipping from the manufacturer in Guatemala.

Exquisite, and would be a mortal sin to mix it with ~anything~.

Likely some kind of Tequila. I don't pay attention to these things.

For myself, I'm never going to waste money on expensive alcohol. If someone is serving Bud Light at a party I'm okay with that.
