What's your favorite comfort food?
For me it's chili con carne,the way mom used to make it (although I spice it up a lot more).

Or Falafel and tahini sauce!
Or fresh-baked olive bread and olive oil and feta and kalamata olives!
Macaroni and cheese or
warm chocolate chip cookies with ice cold milk chaser.
Béchamel sauce, containing the chopped whites of hard boiled eggs, over buttered toast with the yolks sprinkled on top. Yum. Mr gut doesn't like it much, so I'll make it for myself for lunch when I need comfort food.

For a second there I thought you were suggesting it to me.
In which case I would have to barf because I can't stand eating eggs unless they're scrambled.
I was so surprised when I realized what I had done, I debated whether it was OK and everyone would know what I meant to do. But since it would have been distressing to you, I am glad I edited.
My apologies and here is Gordon Ramsay making perfect scrambled eggs. I made these at home a few times and they really are fluffy and creamy and wonderful.
a Minnesota favorite
I knew you had to be from Minnesota!
the amorphous, gelatinous mass known as mac salad (upper right in photo). 
All over the islands you can hear the thunk, thunk, thunk of all those scoops hitting trash cans after lunchtime.
More enlightened places will allow you to substitute a small green salad. And in light of recent developments, I propose that mac salad be rechristened "white slime".
It forms a perfect counterpoint to the rice and entree.
I think what you hearing is the second scoop of rice and the cabbage going plop in the rubbish.
I don't need no yuppie green salad or brown rice 
The Mac Salad is the best part!
