A rare thunderstorm in Central California turned the Valley skies purple for a spectacular lightning show.

Purple rain just days after the death of Prince? No way this was just a coincidence, right?

Matt Coakley (Blue Mantle Media) captured stunning footage of the weather and posted it as a time-lapse video on YouTube. He said in a Facebook message that his filming journey started in Hanford, moved south and east and ended near Tulare.

I live at the northern end of the Central Valley and while I don't think it was quite this spectacular for me, it was an amazing day.

If we could get thunderstorms like this all the time, I would be a happy girl. But this is so rare for California.
