I'm assuming the humane society is the best option because Animal Control will probably put her down. Am I right? Beautiful cat, but it definitely did not want to come to me, so it's probably a stray feral. I have seen it twice before and it was very adept at avoiding capture. A few weeks ago I saw it attack a squirrel, which got away, but the entire animal kingdom descended on the cat. Even the crows and the red shoulder hawks came to squawk at it, to chase it away.
And last night, she was meowing loudly. Probably already hurt and looking for help. But, she avoided me this morning and hobbled off property.
It's going to need more than one person to humanely capture it.

(60,010 posts)They will probably want to set a trap, which is how we get our ferals here.
if you are willing to pay for the vet to fix the leg, they will take it to vet for you.
all of the above is what happens here...hopefully is same where you are.
If nothing is done, nature will take over...lots of wild critters will be attracted to a injured cat.

(12,655 posts)they have a network of people around the country who can help you trap and get this poor thing to a vet. also i would consider contacting wildlife rehabbers they might know someone who can help. humane societies good idea also. animal control last resort...they will probsbly kill unless you want to have him/her transported to your vet of choice and can pay for treatment.
but yes, even with summer warmth coming, this cat won't last long with such an injury.
please keep us posted.

The other possibility would be to call any "no kill" rescue group that may exist in your area and see if they have any volunteers that might be able to assist with trapping.
Edited to add that I found an organization in Longwood. Are you anywhere near there? If so, here's a link to that group:

(205,467 posts)We have a SPCA shelter in the area which even includes a feral cat colony. If the cat is injured, it needs to see a vet and I'm not sure that every animal control even deals with cats. When I caught a cat who I was determined to bring inside (kept the cat and took her to the vet), I borrowed a have-a-heart trap from the animal hospital, but it took a little patience and the right kind of "bait." I was told to use something with a strong odor and tuna fish worked for me. Let us know how it goes...

If you lived near me, I'd help. Hopefully, you can find a rescu group in your area.
