Exorcism movie thoughts, amateur reviewing

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3800796/

I am not an official movie reviewer and don’t claim to be good at it, but I like scary movies and folklore and fairy tales and the like. So I had some thoughts on this Exorcism of Molly Hartley movie

I watched this movie. It wasn’t very good. It got me thinking about exorcism movies. I think almost invariably all possession movies (the ones that prominently feature the Catholic Rite version of possession) feature a woman, tied to a bed, voided of her identity and consciousness, suggesting that her body be sexually assaulted. And they all have really white-girl sounding names, like Emily Rose and Molly Hartley. And the exorcists struggle with their attraction and revulsion to this female body, which usually is oozing or projectile vomiting some sort of fluids. We get it, men, you are afraid of women and their terrible, dirty bodies, but can’t you make more interesting possession movie? I end up watching them anyway because the devil is such a great folklore character that sometimes there will be something good in it, in spite of itself. Not this time, though.

That's an interesting synopsis

Wasn't The Exorcist based from the story of a young boy in Maryland?
