The very first time I heard the whole album (it may have also been the first time I heard them, but am not sure of that) was in our family station wagon on the way back from some event downtown. Our local rock station at that time used to play full albums in the late evening, and Autobahn was the one that night.
The drive back was long enough that I could listen to it the whole way. Plus, I think I was the only one in the car listening to it. I had to keep my ear to the speaker to hear it because my father had turned it down so much.
I doubt my father remembers that now, but he's also a fan of them these days
