That early stuff was so good. I think they seem to be getting back to the kind of band they were back then. Not that they sound the same. They just seem to be steering away from that radio friendly sound of the 90s.

"Lightning" has always been "the" Metallica album for me. I like "Kill 'em All," but the performances...and songwriting...take a leap ahead on "Lightning," for my tastes anyway. I enjoyed "Master of Puppets" but I still prefer the overall vibe of "Lightning."

Everything they made in the 80s was golden to me. I was really disappointed when the Black Album came out.
