I've found one dead one inside (brought in by cat) and one live one brought in by cat. That one I was able to release. Their eyes are so beautiful, and yes so large they look like Keen paintings, or Walt Disney cartoons.

Ours are not that beautiful white/grey, but they are very striking.

It would be so cool to raise and release one and have it come back to visit in it's process of becoming wild again. But with my cats, that would be impossible.

I don't get fleas here (the kind that dogs and cats get), but my flying squirrels do have their own kind of flea (they are usually covered in them) and they infected my cat, Angel, who caught one. I had to take him to the vet for a rattlesnake bite shortly after he caught one of them, and the vet said..."Oh your cat has fleas". But they don't look like cat fleas. They are tiny and narrow and when I told her what they were, she was surprised, but agreed, they did not look like cat fleas. They did not stay on Angel long. He was an incompatible host.

here is one flying (gliding).
